MFWF World's Longest Lunch & Brunch

Cargo Crew brought the fun to Melbourne Food & Wine Festival 2023

This year we took the World’s longest Lunch & Brunch to the next level. The opportunity to work with a likeminded partner in MFWF, that showcase the talent and industry’s best, was a match made in heaven.

More than three decades on from its humble beginnings on the turf at the MCG, the World’s Longest Lunch now kicks off the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival each year with food from a celebrated chef served across more than 600 metres of table winding through Melbourne’s superb Treasury Gardens, in a spectacular dining experience that really has to be seen to be believed. The Saturday then celebrates the World’s Longest Brunch, bringing a more casual and community feel to the festival.

Cargo Crew curated and styled uniform looks for the front of house team, managers and event hosts across both days. Showing the power of a considered, well-designed event uniform to elevate the entire experience.

World's Longest Brunch

This year’s three-course brunch theme was cake, so who better to design the menu than Natalie Paull, the creative genius behind Beatrix Bakes bringing style & flare to traditional homemade cakes. Boy, did she deliver with a savoury pastry for entre, cake maker’s take on a ploughmen’s breakfast for main and the highlight: cheesecake for dessert (more please!) all matched perfectly with Industry Beans Coffee.

We paired the earthy Tobacco Henry Apron with our Bluebird Straps for a pop of fun colour for the serving staff. Adding our signature Pia Graphic Scarf in Bluebird for a stylish and elevated event feel. Dressing over 100 staff at the brunch, it was a showcase of how to elevate an event with the power of uniform.

A Beautifully Styled Event

"I have arrived home from the World’s Longest Brunch this morning… I found myself admiring all the staff, who were busy setting up and their gorgeous outfits/uniforms.

I was really taken with the colours, the obvious quality of the fabric and how stylish they all looked. They really added to the whole effect of the event being beautifully styled and well organised.”

We brought the fun!

Our World’s Longest Brunch pop-up was a colour explosion, launching our 4 new emojis on our famous colour pop Boston Aprons. Guests could take selfies with our giant cardboard Cake, Negroni, Wine, Coffee or Lemon cut outs with the stunning Melbourne city scape in the background.

Guest could also enter our Apron Pack giveaway for you and three foodie mates to win personalised Aprons. The word on the street and question on everyone’s lips was ‘where did you get that boilersuit!?’ As our Riley Boilersuits are fast becoming the must have wardrobe staple for work and play.

World's Longest Lunch

The World’s longest lunch 3-course menu was designed by Alla Wolf-Tasker. A true legend of the Australian culinary landscape, Alla is the founder of Daylesford’s iconic Lake House, hotel and spa that has been setting the standard for luxury dining and accommodation in Australia for more than 40 years.

To pair with a more sophisticated pallet, we styled the front of house team in our Tom Forest Apron to marry with the green backdrop of Melbourne’s treasury Gardens. Adding the Matilda Cinnamon Graphic Scarf to tie back into the culinary theme.
